Two detectives and a group of neighbors foiled a home robbery in Talcahuano, in the Bío Bío region. Three of the criminals managed to flee the scene, while the fourth was arrested.
This incident occurred on Thursday night on Las Quilas Street, where a group of criminals arrived in a white Volkswagen car and then forced their way into a house on the street.
Detectives and neighbors foil robbery
This action was recorded on a video from the security cameras in the area to which Radio Bío Bío had access, where the arrival of the white vehicle with four occupants is observed. Three of the thieves enter the house, while the driver waits outside. A few minutes pass when another red car arrives at the scene, whose occupants immediately get out upon seeing the intruders. It was a detective couple.
The couple tries to restrain the thieves, but one of them manages to get into the white vehicle, the second one fled on foot and the third one tried to escape in the detectives' vehicle without achieving his goal.
In the midst of the struggle, neighbors joined in to thwart the theft of the car and detain one of the criminals, who was hit several times. This is how the subject identified by Carabineros with the initials J.A.C.S., 26 years old, was captured and was injured.
The detainee had arrest warrants
Raúl Arancibia Bonniard, head of the Concepción Provincial Prefecture of the Investigative Police, reported that the detectives arrived at the home of a relative when they noticed that there were unknown subjects trying to steal items.
After what happened, the criminal was transferred by PDI personnel to the Concepción Robbery Brigade, along with the detectives involved in the procedure. Meanwhile, one of the neighbors who was also injured received care at Las Higueras Hospital.
"As a result of this procedure, the detectives suffered minor injuries and the subject was placed at the disposal of justice for the flagrant crime of robbery with violence," added Arancibia.
It was also reported that the offender has two outstanding arrest warrants for drunk driving and injuries.
