Woman Dead As Truck Hits Stationary Scooter In Bhaktapur

Gatthaghar area of Bhaktapur has remained tense after a woman was killed when a truck hit a scooter that traffic police had stopped for inspection on the Araniko Highway on Thursday afternoon.

Angry locals vandalized the truck which hit the scooter and dragged the women for about 20 meters. Riot police personnel have been deployed to the area to take the situation under control.

Locals blame traffic personnel for the accident as the truck driver had to apply brakes suddenly after the scooter in front of it was stopped for checking in the middle of the road. They also vandalized some other motor vehicles.

Police rescued the traffic personnel after the locals started attacking them.

DSP Rajan Karki, the spokesperson for the District Police Office, Bhaktapur, said the identity of the deceased woman has not been confirmed
