A cyclist was killed after being run over by a semi-trailer on Avenida Arthur Bernardes, in Campos, on Saturday night (24). Michelle Braga Caldas, 43, was riding her bicycle on the road when she was hit by the vehicle at the intersection of Arthur Bernardes and José Alves de Azevedo, Beira Valão, in Parque Aurora. She died instantly.
According to information, the driver of the semi-trailer continued with the vehicle after the accident, but was caught by motorcycle couriers who work in restaurants in the area. According to the Civil Police, the driver was taken to the 134th DP, in the city center, but was not arrested. Investigations indicated that he did not see the cyclist at the time of the accident. According to the Civil Police, he will be charged with manslaughter while driving a motor vehicle.
Michelle's body was taken to the Campos Forensic Medical Institute (IML) and the burial is expected to take place this Sunday (25).

Michelle was part of a group of cyclists from Campos and practiced the so-called “pedal”, meeting with other lovers of the sport to cycle in the city. On social media, she often posted photos of herself cycling.
On Instagram, the group “Pedal entre Tapas e Beijos” published a note of condolence for Michele's death, expressing solidarity with the victim's family and friends.
