Wayan Mastri was involved in a fatal accident on the Singaraja-Karangasem highway in Banjar Dinas Bukti, Bukti Village, Kubutambahan District, Buleleng, on Thursday (28/8) afternoon around 2:00 PM Central Indonesian Time (Wita). In the incident, the victim was run over by a truck and died at the scene.
Buleleng Police Public Relations Section Head, Iptu Yohana Rozalin Diaz, said the accident occurred when Wayan Mastri was a passenger on a Yamaha Jupiter Z motorcycle with license plate DK 3865 ACZ, ridden by a man named Made Kayu.
At that time, the Jupiter Z motorcycle was traveling from west to east. At the location of the incident, the Jupiter Z attempted to overtake a Hino cement truck with license plate DK 8514 VD that was in front of it.
Then, an unknown truck approached from the opposite direction. Startled, the driver of the Jupiter Z lost control and fell. The victim also fell and was immediately run over by the rear of the Hino truck.
"The victim suffered serious injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the Jupiter Z survived," said Iptu Yohana.
Following the incident, the Kubutambahan Police went to the crime scene, evacuated the victim, and secured the truck driver.
"The truck driver has been taken into custody at the Kubutambahan Police Station for further questioning," she concluded
