On the morning of May 10, at approximately 7:25 a.m., in the Krasnogvardeisky District of St. Petersburg, the driver of a JAC garbage truck struck a pedestrian while reversing in the courtyard of a building on Udarnikov Avenue. An 88-year-old woman died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained by the vehicle.
The tragic accident occurred near building No. 27, Block 2, on Udarnikov Avenue. The driver failed to ensure the maneuver was safe before driving, and this carelessness cost the pedestrian's life.
The Main Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has opened a criminal case under Article 264, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The 63-year-old defendant faces charges for violating traffic regulations and operating a vehicle, resulting in the death of a person through negligence.
The garbage truck driver has been ordered to appear. An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
