An off-duty military police officer died after being shot by another officer in the early hours of Sunday (19) during a shootout on Jambeiro Avenue in Vila Valqueire, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
Sergeant Eduardo Filipe Santiago Ferreira, who was killed, was assigned to the 18th Military Police Battalion (Jacarepaguá). The officer who shot Santiago, William Amaral da Conceição, was arrested.
With him was another off-duty military police officer, who was injured and taken to the Military Police Central Hospital in downtown Rio.
Images obtained by TV Globo (see the video above) indicate that the officers were in the same car and had an argument. They then exited the car and began exchanging gunfire on the street.
The case will be investigated by the Capital Homicide Division (DHC).
