Man Shot Dead by SWAT After Shooting Officer In Face
*
Family and neighbours called police after 36-year-old J.C., high on drugs, started shooting "a BB gun". When police arrived to the home in the 1000 block of West 21st Street in the Southwest Division of Los Angeles, he told them he had a real gun and was ready to die. He got his wish.
After four hours of negotiations, things escalated.
J.C. shot officer R.W. in the chest (blocked by the vest) with officers then using gas to attempt to get him out. This is when J.C. shot officer R.W. in the face.
An officer sitting in a window above him then shot him multiple times. J.C. was cuffed and died at the scene alongside a shotgun and pistol.
The officer was taken to hospital where he received treatment for the gunshot wound and is recovering.
