The police have arrested a female suspect after an e-hailing driver was killed, allegedly while inside his car, in Pretoria West on Wednesday.
The gruesome incident was caught on the car’s dash camera.
A video circulating on social media shows a man and a woman inside the vehicle attacking the driver.
The attack begins with a struggle between the woman, sitting in the front passenger seat, and the e-hailing driver.
The woman appears to be searching the driver and trying to restrain him, while he attempts to push her away as the vehicle is moving.
As the struggle continues, a man sitting behind the driver pulls him from behind, and at some point during the altercation, a black object is at the centre of the tug.
The car eventually comes to a halt.
Within moments, the man from behind holds the driver in a stranglehold while the woman appears to look for something using a lit torch.
The e-hailing driver loses consciousness, and the pair put him in the back seat. Another man then enters the vehicle and begins to drive the car.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was murdered by a man and a woman who had requested an e-hailing service in Pretoria West.
