The victim, identified as 53-year-old Márcio Sérgio Pinheiro Soares, was struck multiple times—primarily on the head—while working at the Bom Jesus gas station. Security cameras recorded the attack.

Márcio was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries.

The suspect, Lucas Silva dos Santos—alias "Gêmeos" (Twins)—fled after taking 94 reais (approximately 18 dollars) and other belongings from the victim, but he was located and arrested hours later at the Municipal Open-Air Market
