Two men were murdered in a hitman-style attack in the La Libertad canton, Santa Elena province. The incident occurred on the afternoon of Friday, December 6, in the so-called "Zone H" of the central market of this city.
Police Colonel Edmundo Egas reported that the victims were walking through the area when they were surprised by two subjects on a motorcycle. "One of the attackers got out of the vehicle and shot the first victim in the head. The other person, when trying to flee, received several shots in the back," Egas explained.
Both men died instantly. According to the officer, the deceased had criminal records for illegal possession of firearms and murder. Their bodies were left lying on the public road, while merchants and buyers in the supply center screamed in terror.
