A former military police officer was killed on Monday morning (7) after going for a walk with his dogs on Rua Formosa, in Jardim Guanabara, Ilha do Governador.

A video obtained by G1 shows a car stopping in front of former police officer André da Silva Aleixo and firing shots at him.

G1 found out that Aleixo was currently known as a sort of manager of the crime scene on Ilha do Governador and in São Gonçalo, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio.

The criminals, wearing hoods, got into the car and fled. When they noticed a woman screaming in the middle of the street, the car reversed to shoot Aleixo again.

The woman stopped in front of one of the men and prevented him from shooting the former police officer again, but the hooded man who was driving got out of the vehicle and shot at André Aleixo.

The former police officer had just opened the gate to leave the house when the hooded men started shooting at the victim.

Police officers from the 17th Battalion (Ilha do Governador) were called to the scene and found the former police officer dead on the street. The area was cordoned off and forensics were called in.

In a statement, the Civil Police reported that the Capital Homicide Division (DHC) is investigating the case and is trying to find information that could lead to the perpetrators of the crime.

In André's car, a .9mm Glock pistol and two backpacks with R$257,000 in cash, notebooks with notes and a control of gambling machine revenue were found. The Internal Affairs Division also found a PM badge, a ninja hood and a pair of black gloves.
