The victim, identified as Wesley Lima Souto, 30 years old, was executed with dozens of gunshots. According to reports, three armed individuals got out of a Hyundai HB20 and surprised the man in a convenience store, firing the shots.
The investigations were conducted in an integrated manner by teams from the General Investigations Section (SIG) and the Regional Intelligence Nucleus (NRI) of Três Lagoas, with support from all units linked to the Regional Police Station (DRP).
Through the analysis of security camera footage and the collection of witness statements, investigators were able to identify one of the suspects as the direct perpetrator of the shooting. With this information, the teams went to the suspect's residence, who, when confronted with the evidence, confessed to participating in the crime, admitting to being the main perpetrator.
Taken to the SIG headquarters, the suspect confirmed his involvement during formal questioning before the head delegate. According to the report, the motive was related to previous disagreements and threats allegedly made by the victim.
The man stated that he was the first to get out of the vehicle, approaching the victim inside the convenience store, and began firing a revolver, mainly hitting the head. Even after the victim fell to the ground, he allegedly continued shooting, also hitting the chest.
Subsequently, two other individuals involved also fired several shots, increasing the brutality of the execution. After the crime, the trio fled in a Hyundai HB20, driven by a fourth suspect.
According to the detainee, in an attempt to eliminate evidence, those involved took the vehicle to a rural area, where they set it on fire, completely destroying it. During the investigations, and with the support of information provided by a company in the region, the SIG teams located the completely burned vehicle. The vehicle was submitted to forensic examinations carried out by the Scientific Police, through the Regional Unit of Expertise and Identification (URPI) of Três Lagoas.
Investigations progressed throughout Thursday (12), when the SIG and NRI teams determined that the weapons used in the homicide were buried on a rural property. After excavations at the site, the police located and seized the firearms, dozens of rounds of ammunition, as well as masks and clothing used by the perpetrators. The materials coincide with images that circulated on social media after the crime.
The operation mobilized all units of the Civil Police of Três Lagoas, which acted in an integrated and uninterrupted manner in identifying those involved and consolidating the evidence.
The investigations continue under the responsibility of the SIG, with the aim of confirming the participation and qualification of the other individuals involved. The cell phones of the victim and the arrested suspect were seized, and the police authority requested judicial authorization to break the confidentiality of the data, which will be technically analyzed by the Regional Intelligence Nucleus.
After the arrest report was drawn up, the Civil Police requested the conversion of the arrest into preventive detention. The suspect was taken to the DEPAC cells, where he remains at the disposal of the Justice system.
