Hitman Shoots Man While Having Breakfast With Family. Colombia

A man named Joaquín Vergara Mujica was murdered by a hitman from the Ejercito de Liberacion Nacional (ELN), while having breakfast with his wife and family in a restaurant in San Vicente de Chucuri, Santander. The ELN delivered a statement on August 28th, claiming responsibility for the hit and says that it happened because he betrayed ELN, and also took money and goods that didn’t belong to him. It’s stated that he was arrested by authorities in 1993 and was recruited as an informant, providing damaging information on ELN.  They say that much of the information he gave was false and it led to innocent people being prosecuted
