A Dude From Bulgaria Tried To Cut His Own Throat For Stealing Documents

An unusual event surprised the travelers waiting at the international exit of El Dorado Airport. A Bulgarian man, identified as Veselin Dimitrov Hristov, caused multiple wounds to his neck in a suicide attempt while he was highly excited.


Site learned that on Saturday night the foreigner went to the Colombian Immigration offices at the air terminal, claiming that he had been the victim of a robbery. Hristov said that his suitcases, money and documents, including his passport, had been stolen. The officials told him that he should go to his country's embassy to report the incident and receive the necessary support.


However, the response was not to his liking. He demanded that the Immigration officials provide him with money to buy a return ticket to Bulgaria, but his request was rejected.


Given the man's erratic behavior, members of the Police went to the scene and asked him to calm down. However, instead of cooperating, Hristov broke a bottle and began cutting his neck with the broken glass. Later, with his wounds still open, he ran through the airport while the staff and the police tried to stop him. During his escape, he hit and collided with other travelers until he was finally caught.


Once controlled, he was transferred to the Colombia Clinic in Bogotá, where he still remains.


Hristov had entered the country on August 21 as a tourist from Istanbul. So far, it is unknown what activities or places he visited during his stay in Colombia.
