Taxi Driver Died After Dropping Off A Passenger And Closing The Trunk

A tragic accident occurred on Thursday morning in the capital of Santa Cruz, which claimed the life of a taxi driver, who was crushed against his own vehicle by a bus of line 79, when he was preparing to close the trunk after dropping off a passenger. The fatal incident occurred at the fourth ring road and Radial 19.


Security cameras installed in the area recorded the exact moment in which the taxi driver, identified as Emiliano García Fuentes, 44 years old, was hit by the bus. In the images, it can be seen how the taxi driver approached the back of his vehicle to close the trunk, after having helped his passenger to unload her load. However, at that moment, the bus approached at high speed from behind, without slowing down, and hit him violently.


Then the man, still conscious, sat on the edge of the sidewalk and was helped by passengers of the bus and other witnesses. Paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed García Fuentes to a nearby medical center. Unfortunately, despite efforts to revive him, the taxi driver died on arrival, due to multiple internal injuries.


The driver of the bus line 79, which was involved in the tragic accident, was apparently giving change to one of his passengers at the time of the impact.


The driver was arrested by the Traffic Police and also taken to the medical center, where he underwent initial tests. His health status is unknown, although the initial version provided by some witnesses and the driver himself is that the crash occurred while he was "giving change."


The passenger whom the taxi driver was taking had known him for a month since she usually looked for him due to his helpful nature to help her transport the products she bought at a market.
