A sports utility vehicle (SUV) rammed the outer railing and walkway and eventually crashed onto the entrance of the Terminal 1 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Sunday morning, May 4.
In a statement, New NAIA Infra Corporation (NNIC) said there were individuals who sustained injuries but were immediately given medical treatment.
“The driver involved in the incident is now in the custody of the PNP (Philippine National Police),” the statement read.
It said policemen and the MIAA security have already secured the place, particualrly the entrance of the departure area, and investigation is ongoing.
“At this time, we are awaiting official confirmation on the cause of the incident and reports of injuries. We are closely coordinating with all concerned agencies to gather accurate information,” the statement read.
“We understand the concern this incident has caused, especially as images have circulated on social media. We urge the public not to speculate and to wait for verified updates, which will be issued as soon as they become available,” it added
