A double murder in Araria district on Thursday has sent shock waves across Bihar. A roadside vendor beheaded a pickup driver over a minor parking dispute, following which the family of the deceased killed the culprit in front of the police.
According to the police, the deceased driver was identified as Ali Hussain, a resident of Jogbani town in Araria. The roadside vendor killed in retaliation was identified as Ravi Chauhan.
Chauhan, a 'sattu' seller, attacked Hussain over a minor parking issue in Forbesganj town, severed his head and paraded it before hundreds of onlookers. The assailant then left the body and the severed head at the crime scene.
In retaliation, relatives of Hussain and angry locals dragged the accused, who was hiding near his house, to the site of the incident, beat him with sticks and rods, before killing him in front of the police.
The situation turned volatile following the double murders, resulting in a scuffle between the police and the angry mob. As people began to gather around the crime scene, additional police forces began patrolling the area.
