Karimun, Batamnews – Residents were shocked by the discovery of an unidentified body in the Mangrove Forest area, Sungkup Island, Tulang Village, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province, on Wednesday afternoon, January 15, 2025.
The body was found in a terrible condition, where almost the entire body had become a skeleton. Until now, the identity and gender of the victim have not been identified.
The mysterious body has been evacuated to the Muhammad Sani Regional Hospital by a Joint Team from the Karimun Police Satpolairud, Balai Police and Karimun Basarnas, for further identification.
Balai Karimun Police Chief AKP Melky Sihombing confirmed the discovery of the body. According to him, the discovery was first reported by people who were doing activities in the area.
"Yes, it was reported by the public yesterday afternoon. It has now been evacuated and taken to the Muhammad Sani Regional Hospital for the identification process," said AKP Melky, Thursday, January 16, 2025.
He said that for the identity of the body, his party was still investigating and coordinating with the Polsek in the Karimun Police, to match the characteristics, related to the missing person information.
"It is not yet known whether it is a man or a woman, we have coordinated with other Polsek to match the characteristics with the existing missing person report. We will report the developments later," said the Kapolsek.
