"Blackface" in Ukraine
*
There's a photo circulating around the Internet of a Black POW who fought for Russia. He was captured by Ukrainians. The soldiers decided to make fun of his skin color.
This photo was out on Twitter in no time. it had a significant social impact.
Some time later I found a video. Another Russian POW captured by Ukrainians. This time the Ukrainian servicemen decided to take it further and follow the traditions of 18th century's practice of non-black performers using burnt cork or theatrical makeup in order to play black characters.
"Blackface" practice is considered racist nowadays. I don't think they knew about this fact.
What's on the video: A Ukrainian soldier hiding his face says: "Hello, friends! We start a new challenge. Whose N#!$ER is better?
