Birmingham Pedestrian Killed And Another Injured After Collision With Car

A pedestrian died and another was injured in an horrific car crash in Birmingham. It happened on Great Hampton Street yesterday, Sunday, July 21.

Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a critical care car and a trauma doctor and paramedic rushed to the scene at around 3.45pm. They found bystanders performing CPR on a man, aged in his 60s.

He was confirmed dead at the scene. A second pedestrian, also a man, was assessed by ambulance staff and treated for minor injuries. He was taken to Sandwell Hospital for further checks.

A statement said: "West Midlands Ambulance Service received several 999 calls reporting a collision involving a car and two pedestrians on Great Hampton Street, Birmingham at around 3.45pm (Sunday). Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a critical care car and a MERIT trauma doctor and paramedic attended the scene.

"Ambulance crews arrived to find bystanders performing CPR on one pedestrian, a man. Sadly, nothing could be done to save the man by the team of ambulance staff and he was confirmed deceased on scene.

“The second pedestrian, a man, was assessed by ambulance staff and treated for minor injuries before being conveyed to Sandwell Hospital for further checks. The driver of the car, a woman, was also assessed and discharged on scene.”

Taking to X, Birmingham Police posted: "A pedestrian has died and another person has been injured as we continue to investigate a collision that happened on Great Hampton Street yesterday. A man in his 60s sadly died at the scene and another man was treated for minor injuries.

"The driver is helping with our enquiries as we continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the collision. You can do this by contacting our Serious Collision Investigation Unit on [email protected] or by calling 101 and quoting log 2728 21/7/24."
