A serious accident resulted in the death of a motorcyclist on Friday morning (27), on the PE-09 highway, in the district of Nossa Senhora do Ó, in Ipojuca, on the South Coast of Pernambuco. According to witnesses, the tragedy occurred when a pickup truck invaded the opposite lane of the road and collided head-on with the motorcycle.
Images sent to Canal Globo show the dramatic moment when the motorcycle caught fire shortly after the impact. The front of the pickup truck was also badly damaged, with the airbag being activated due to the violence of the collision.
The Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) was called at 6:48 a.m. and sent a team to the scene. However, the motorcyclist, whose identity was not released, was already dead when the rescuers arrived.
The victim's body was sent to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML), located in the Santo Amaro neighborhood, in Recife. There is currently no information about the identity or age of the victim, nor any details about the driver of the pickup truck.
The accident occurred at the entrance to Porto de Galinhas, a busy area known for being one of the main tourist destinations in Pernambuco. The police are expected to investigate the circumstances of the incident, including the allegation that the pickup truck was traveling in the wrong direction at the time of the impact.
