The incident occurred at around 11:40 a.m. at the intersection of General Acha Avenue and San Mauro Castelverde Street, in the Parque Calchaquí neighborhood. According to footage from security cameras, the officer was leaving his home to get into his Peugeot 207 when he was approached by a man and a woman riding a Honda Wave motorcycle. The man, holding a firearm, remained on the motorcycle, while the woman, on foot, walked around the car, positioned herself by the driver’s door, and drew a weapon.
The footage then shows the woman opening the victim’s car door and a struggle ensues, during which the uniformed officer managed to draw his service weapon, a 9mm Bersa pistol, and fire several shots. The assailants also fired their weapons.
The female robber fell mortally wounded at the scene, while her accomplice managed to flee on foot but was found dead a few blocks away after a police perimeter operation in the area.
At the scene, emergency medical personnel confirmed the deaths, while officers from the Ninth Police Station of Quilmes seized the assailants’ motorcycle and the officer’s service weapon.
The case was placed under the authority of prosecutor Javier Barrera of Functional Instruction Unit No. 2 of the Quilmes Judicial Department, who took no action against the member of the Buenos Aires city police force, considering that he acted in self-defense.
