College Teacher Shot Dead On Bus

In Guayaquil, 56-year-old physics and mathematics teacher G.S.B.C. was returning home via bus when two individuals, believed to be students at the secondary school where G. worked, fired at least five shots at G., killing him instantly. The assailants, who were wearing school uniforms, had sat beside G. throughout the bus journey before ambushing him, perhaps in an attempt to rob him.

According to a colleague, multiple students at the school are members of criminal gangs, and teachers consistently fear for their safety
