A Criminal On A Motorcycle Shot A Policeman In The Temple Escorting A Detainee To A Police Station
In an act of violence that has shocked the community of Maicao, a National Police patrolman, identified as Elver Valero, was shot and killed by a motorcyclist while transporting a detainee to the police station on Tuesday afternoon, August 13, 2024.
According to reports, Valero was on foot escorting the detainee, Rafael Andres Puentes Urdaneta, who had received medical attention at a local clinic. The officer headed towards the police station to complete the arrest procedure. However, on the way, a motorcyclist suddenly approached and shot Valero in the temple and the impact caused the immediate death of the patrolman, who fell to the ground.
After the attack, the motorcyclist stopped the vehicle and, in an act of escape, allowed Puentes Urdaneta to get on the motorcycle before quickly fleeing the scene. The identity of the assailant has not yet been identified by the authorities. The last name of the fugitive is believed to be from the neighboring country of Venezuela.
The removal of the body was carried out by a commission of criminalistics of the Sijín, who worked in the place to collect evidence and clarify the circumstances of the murder. The local community has expressed its indignation and repudiation of the Maicaera society because of the way in which the events took place.
In response to this serious act of bloodshed, a gigantic intensive search operation has been deployed in the area.
