A Police Officer Shot And Killed A Colleague Over A Dispute At A Party. Brazil

 

In the early hours of last Saturday (23), a tragedy occurred during a police party in Imperatriz, 630 km from the capital of Maranhão, São Luís. Corporal Claudio Adão Duarte Silva, of the Military Police of Maranhão, was fatally hit by shots fired by Hugo Deleon da Silva Teixeira, a military police officer from the state of Tocantins. The confusion began when there was an argument between police officers present at the party, which was located in the Bacuri neighborhood.

During the confusion, police officer Hugo Delon pushed someone and, in response, received a slap in the face from another colleague. Corporal Claudio Adão, who was assigned to the 14th PM Battalion, intervened and pushed Hugo, at which point he pulled out a revolver and started shooting. The shots hit Claudio Adão, who was immediately taken to the Municipal Hospital of Imperatriz, but unfortunately, did not survive his injuries, passing away during the morning of Saturday.

After the incident, Hugo Deleon was detained by his own police officers who were at the party, and was caught red-handed with the weapon used in the crime. Security camera footage captured the moment the situation unfolded, highlighting the seriousness of the incident. Major Leonardo, commander of the 3rd BPM, reported that Hugo Deleon was taken to the Civil Police Station in Imperatriz to be formally charged. According to him, after the legal procedures, the police officer will remain in one of the barracks of the Military Police in Tocantins while the case is investigated.
