A United States marine was stabbed to death during a large fight in North Carolina on Easter Sunday.
The stabbing happened on North Front Street in downtown Wilmington, shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday, April 5.
Wilmington police said they were called to a large fight that left two men with stab wounds, and then got word of another unrelated fight just a couple minutes after.
Both men involved in the first fight were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. One of them, 21-year-old Daniel Montano, did not survive. Sister-station WITN reported Montano served in the U.S. Marines and was stationed at Camp Lejeune.
Two days after the deadly stabbing, Wilmington police released pictures of someone they called a “person of interest” in the case.
That person appeared to be a man with dreadlocks, and was wearing a denim jacket with denim jeans, a pink t-shirt, and white shoes with blue and red accents.
