During An Argument, A 64-Year-Old Man Doused His 57-Year-Old Wife With Gasoline And Set Her On Fire. Vietnam

On October 17, Mr. Qua was investigated by Phan Thiet City Police for signs of murder.


Earlier, late on October 15, people in an alley on Ton Duc Thang Street, Hung Long Ward, Phan Thiet City, heard cries for help from Mr. Qua and his wife, Truong Thi Ngo, 57 years old. Running to the scene, they saw the couple on fire, so they rushed in to put out the fire, called the police, and took the victims to Binh Thuan General Hospital.


Mrs. Ngo was determined to have suffered burns on about 90% of her body and was transferred to Ho Chi Minh City for treatment. Mr. Qua suffered burns on 25% of his body (head and hands) and was treated locally.


Initially, the police determined that Mr. Qua and his wife had been in conflict for a long time and were in the process of divorce proceedings. That night, the two continued to have conflicts and quarrels. In a fit of anger, Mr. Qua took gasoline from his motorbike, poured it on his wife while she was sitting on a swing, and used a lighter to set her on fire. Mrs. Ngo was engulfed in flames and ran out to the alley to call for help. Mr. Qua also had part of his body burned.
