Two fishermen died in Isla Malingin, Bien Unido, Bohol after reportedly being rammed by an anti-illegal fishing patrol boat from Pres. Carlos P. Garcia (PITOGO) early Friday morning.
The victims were identified as RENE REYES y AWAS, also known as "AG-AG," and BJAY MANAYON, also known as "BODON." Both were residents of Purok 5, Malingin, Bien Unido, Bohol.
The police in the town of Bien Unido are currently continuing their investigation to identify who among the anti-illegal fishing patrol rammed the victims' boat.
According to PSSg KENNITH MICHAEL ITEM of the Bien Unido PNP, the two victims were fishing in the waters off Malingin, near the boundary of Pitogo, using "liba-liba," a type of illegal fishing method, when they were caught by the patrol and allegedly rammed.
Victim "Ag-ag" was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. Meanwhile, "BJay" was initially reported missing but was later found dead.
Authorities are still verifying the identities of the patrol members involved from Pitogo
