An act of violence recorded last Sunday, April 12, in the Restrepo neighborhood of Bogotá resulted in the death of a man identified as Iván Franco Torres. According to preliminary information provided by authorities, the incident was not a contract killing attempt—as initially rumored on social media—but rather a brawl between two individuals who, it appears, already had a prior dispute.
The incident occurred around 10:20 a.m.—in broad daylight on a Sunday—at Carrera 17 #17-54, specifically at the entrance of a commercial building housing two adjacent bars. The altercation took place on the access stairs leading to these venues, at a spot clearly visible to those passing through the area at the time.
According to the police, the confrontation occurred between patrons and did not involve any employees of the establishments. During the brawl, Iván Franco Torres sustained a stab wound—located between his neck and chest—which proved fatal.
The victim succumbed to the severity of the injury. After being alerted by the community, authorities transported him to a medical facility; however, he passed away shortly thereafter due to the mortal wound he had sustained.
The incident caused shock among neighbors, local business owners, and passersby in the area, who were left bewildered by the scene unfolding right on the public street. The man lay sprawled on the ground, left to his fate, while those witnessing the event struggled to grasp the gravity of the situation.
Regarding the case, the police reported that the establishment has been temporarily shut down. As of now, no arrests have been made, although the investigation is ongoing, and key evidence has already been gathered to identify the perpetrator.
