A man died after self-harming with a box cutter while riding a Route 42 bus on Avenida Luis Cabrera and Obrero Nacional, in the Magdalena Contreras borough.
According to reports, police officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security were alerted to the incident after a woman accompanying him reported that the 29-year-old man, who suffered from schizophrenia and was under medical treatment, took a box cutter from his bag and cut both wrists and his neck.
Following the alert, the officers requested emergency medical services. Paramedics who arrived at the scene assessed him and pronounced him dead due to his injuries.
The bus driver and several witnesses were taken to the Public Prosecutor's Office to give their statements and assist in the investigation.
The Mexico City Attorney General's Office is conducting the corresponding investigations to clarify the facts.
