A 61-year-old employee of a wholesale store was shot dead inside the establishment on the morning of Thursday, the 24th, in Goiânia. According to the Military Police of Goiás (PM-GO), the crime is suspected to have been committed by the victim's ex-partner, aged 62.

According to the investigations, her family members were on site and reported that there was no history of physical violence. In fact, there is no record of any incident under the Maria da Penha Law prior to today’s incident. “The family members reported, however, that the couple always argued a lot during their marriage and that mutual insults were common,” the police stated.
Apparently, the perpetrator of the femicide did not accept the separation. The children reported that he tried to reconcile with her a few times, but she was determined. Unable to accept the breakup, he decided to kill her and then commit suicide.
The case will be investigated by the State Police Station for Specialized Assistance to Women (DEAEM).
