A serious act of violence occurred in the municipality of Uribia on the night of Sunday, March 22, where a pregnant woman was critically injured in a shooting.
The victim was identified as Katerine Torrez Barros, a psychologist, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds in an attack perpetrated by a man on a motorcycle. According to preliminary information, the assailant was wearing a white sweatshirt and used a pistol to repeatedly shoot the victim, an incident that was captured on video.
Following the attack, the woman was initially taken to a medical center in the municipality of Maicao. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was transferred to a more specialized facility, where she remains under close medical supervision. Her condition is critical.
Preliminary reports indicate that the victim is approximately four months pregnant, which increases concerns about her health.
Authorities are conducting the corresponding investigations to clarify this fact and find the person responsible, while the situation generates alarm and rejection in the community of the north of the department.
